You know that becoming more productive will have a dramatic—and possibly even transformative—impact on your career and life. But the question is how? How can you become more productive?
In this article, I will talk about the two and only two key elements you need to focus on to significantly boost your productivity.
Time is Money
The first thing you need to focus on is time.
We all have a finite amount of it.
And yet most of us treat our time like we’ve got an endless supply.
We don’t think much of spending 10 minutes chatting here or 20 minutes scrolling through social media there.
But these kinds of activities could quite literally be preventing you from becoming more productive.
If you don’t spend your time producing results, you cannot be productive.
The Task is King
The second thing you need to focus on to become more productive is your task list.
Even if you spend all your time trying to produce results, it won’t mean much if you’re working on the wrong tasks.
To become more productive, you need to make sure you’re focused on the right tasks—the tasks you know will bring the results you want.
Becoming more productive really boils down to these two key elements: time and tasks.
The problem is that each one of us tend to focus on one or the other. Either we focus on managing time, or we focus on managing to-dos.
But you won’t become more productive until you focus on both at the same time.
Your brain actually depends on it in order to do its job.
Where to Start
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that figuring out how to integrate time management and task management isn’t easy.
But, I can tell you that it’s definitely possible.
I’ve done it.
And I’ve helped hundreds of others do it, too.
Once you figure out the secret formula that works for you, you won’t be able to help yourself from becoming more productive.
It’s like installing a magic productivity switch that you just have to flip.
It almost isn’t fair to everyone else.
Now, if you want to become more productive, the place to start is by setting the right kind of goals.
